Cleaning Before And After A Move

Hiring a moving company in Fayetteville, North Carolina is an important step to take in the moving process, but it’s far from the only step you have to take. There’s packing boxing, transferring utilities, and of course cleaning out the old place and cleaning up the new place. Moving a home or a business is a major process that movers can help with, but even the best moving company can only do so much. Moving is a big part of the process, but cleaning is also very important. Whether you hire professional cleaners to do the work for you, or you decide to get your hands dirty and do it yourself, there are certain things you need to keep in mind. It’s important that you leave your prior residence or office in respectable condition, and it’s even more important that you clean your new home or business space properly before settling in.

Things To Consider When Cleaning Out Your Old Home Or Place Of Business

While it may not be the most glamorous job in the world, proper cleaning of your prior home or place of business is important for a number of reasons. First, if you were renting the place then you probably have a security deposit that you would like to get back. It’s pretty much a given that if you don’t clean the old place out properly and leave it in good condition that you won’t get that deposit back. So how much work should you really put into cleaning the place up? Well, you should definitely do a thorough deep cleaning of the kitchen and bathrooms. You should also have the carpet cleaned, or the tile floors professionally cleaned and sanitized. If the paint on the walls is dinged up, then retouching it isn’t a bad idea either. The bottom line is that you don’t want to spend a huge amount of time and energy cleaning out a place you are leaving, but you really should leave in the same condition it was in when you first moved in.

Things To Consider When Cleaning Up Your New Home Or Place Of Business

While cleaning out the home or building you are leaving is important, it’s even more important that you thoroughly clean and sanitize the new place you are moving into. One of the most important things you can do to make the cleaning process as easy as possible is to clean your new home or place of business before you move your things in. In an ideal world, the new place you are going to be occupying will already be left in good condition having been professionally cleaned. Even if that appears to be the case you would still be well advised to take the time to go through and touch things up a bit while also sanitizing the kitchens and bathrooms with bleach.

On the other hand, if you are moving into a place that has very obviously not been professionally cleaned, then you are going to have quite a bit to do. First, start with the big stuff. If there is trash to be taken out, walls to clean, floors to mop, and carpets to steam clean, take care of this first. The idea is to start to get the place into a livable condition as soon as possible; plus you’ll just feel better knowing that a lot of the work is out of the way. After taking care of the big stuff it’s time to go in and make sure that the kitchens and bathrooms are clean and ready to use. That means lots of cleanser and bleach. It’s also not a bad idea to have some disinfectant spray on hand for the bathrooms, and also for the doorknobs and other hard surfaces that may be hiding germs.

Even if the new place has been cleaned by the prior tenant, the place could use a deep, deep cleaning. The period before you start moving all your belongings into the new home or business is the perfect time to do this, because there will be no furniture covering the floors, carpeting, and walls. Consider shampooing the carpet, scrubbing and touching up the walls with paint (or even completely repainting), and buffing out the floors yourself before you start moving all your furniture in. This may be especially crucial if you had pets that will be moving with you, as sometimes pets can leave behind a distinct odor! Alternatively, you could hire a professional cleaning company to do it for you to save you the stress, because moving is already stressful to begin with!
